Strider MK-2T

This is the Thestral variant of the of the successful standard Strider MK-2 from SFaccountant's Fimfiction MLP Warhammer 40k story crossover Gear in the Machine. After the unexpected success of the MK-2 design from Dark Acolyte Gears Work, Princess Luna's requested that her stealthy Night Guard be equipped with such machines as a much needed heavy support unit. Unfortunately, the design of the standard MK-2; namely the high emission of noises, high heat emission, lack of nimbleness while moving on ground and he fact that no Thestrals could keep up with it while in flight, made it incompatible with the Lunar Guard's heavy stealth combat doctrines. So, the the MK-2 had to be redesign to better accommodated the Lunar Guards specific needs and broth about the "T" variant.

I aside for from the sleeker heavy comedic redesign of the unite the basic chassis is still the same standard MK-2, which greatly eases the maintenance, as despite bearing little resembles of its standard counterpart, they still share many of the same internal parts. Unlike the standard unite it can't sustained constant fight while in combat and relies on it rapid actions turbines on its sides to make jumpback assisted leaps to either assault in cqc enemy units or or for rapid withdrawal of the area, to avoid retaliation. the joint articulations are of much finer degree of motion and much less noisy, and can actually capable of having a humanoid combat stand to it so that it can hold its own in combat with other humanoid beings. Its senors are higher rated for night combat for night fighting, but also has radar and sound system that is specifically attuned to the Thestral's heighten hearing which makes them much more aware of their surrounding then other strider units. This unfortunately make it so that this unite senor system only be use at it full potential by Teastrals becaues of the configuration of the brain, but can still be piloted by normal pony, if in a more limited manor. Most of its weapons load out can be the basically the same as the standard MK-2 but are reconfigured to emit less light and noise, but can also has close quarter combat attachment to it legs.

All doe the mouth of the MK-2T was originally was more of a psychological weapon, especially the tongue, to give it a make bestial look to the unite and the lack of obvious sensor/eyes nodes on the head gives it a more soulless aspect of the unite adds a sense of dread with it merest presents. Normally, this sort of superfluous feature by the Iron Warriors, and doesn't gives the MK-2T a very sympathetic look to ally's forces.

The MK-2 is greatly appreciated by the Lunar Guard for it night themed features and always appresiated having them supporting their backs while in combat missions.


This was a fun little work for me to do and was a great way for me to practice some new digital technique that I could use to make heavy machinery which I haven't had much luck with my last few pieces which took a lot of time for me to do, especially with light sources for smooth curved surfaces.
